Ginny and Georgia: 3 Reasons to Binge-Watch this Netflix Series

Are you always craving a fun watch, but are bored of the same old dramedies and sitcoms? Well, same! In a quest to find a show that would be relatable, show my perspective, and also be fun to watch, I found this gem of a show called Ginny and Georgia!

Firstly, let's make sure you know the things this show is NOT:

- It's not a rom-com

- It's not a high school teen drama show

- It's not a thriller

But it's all of these and more!

Secondly, get this - the series has two female leads and a lot of female characters that are more than eye candy or arm candy.

Representation in Production

We're continually speaking about representation in our work lives, in our governments. We also speak about the representation of color, gender, caste, and more. But we forget about representation in our crew. Our production crew, our scriptwriters, our operations management team. This is how we ensure there is correct representation of various cultures, various genders, and people from different walks of life. It is also essential that we hear, see, and understand these perspectives that have been ignored and misrepresented for years.

Gripping writing, thrilling, suspenseful

You will feel every beat of the show, with every gasp, the audience gasps. The show is a terrific portrayal of a person's reaction to the scenes. For example, a scene that you would feel every bit of, was shot/edited in slow motion. Some things that went by quickly in your life, like having a good time, also flew by really fast on the show. If you've ever faced any abuse as a woman, you will associate it with a plethora of emotions faced by various characters.

  1. The appropriate portrayal of trauma and abuse We've seen multiple portrayals of trauma and abuse throughout the years. We have witnessed men, women, and children being beaten up, slapped, raped, abused, molested, harassed, cat-called and more. But we've always seen the 'before' of the abuse, without ever being revealed to the more powerful and more painful aftermath of the abuse. Ginny and Georgia has been able to portray it successfully, and deeply enough for the creators to issue a trigger warning.

We're desperately waiting for the thrid season of Ginny & Georgia, are you?
